今年是杜聪从事艾滋病孤儿救助的第10个年头。他伴随着一批批受救助的孩子度过了许多个学期，其中一些人已经大学毕业，事业有成。
“辛德勒站在山头，看见山下大批的犹太人受到纳粹士兵的虐待。”香港人杜聪时常想起《辛德勒的名单》里的这个镜头。他说，他并非想做中国的辛德勒，只是想说明，在巨大的苦难面前，人无法掉过脸去。
已过不惑之年的杜聪，是哈佛大学东亚研究所硕士，曾在华尔街著名金融机构服务。如果不是2001年冬天第一次接触河南的艾滋病人，他也许会成为另一个领域的精英。早在27岁的时候，他就当上了瑞士某银行联席董事，后任法国某银行副总裁，前途无可限量。
但就是那个冬天不寒而栗的旅程，后来成了杜聪永恒的噩梦之源。奄奄一息的病人躺在褥子上，溃疡、腹泻、低烧，无药医治；阴暗的房间里弥漫着绝望的气味，他们无助地向外伸着干枯的手……
他辞去了工作，也就此过上了一种不同的生活。
如今，一年中有一半的时间，他在中国的各个艾滋病区奔走，另外一半时间，他则在各地进行演讲，既能鼓励更多的年轻人投身于公益事业，又能募集善款。他创办的“智行基金会”共计救助了13000多名艾滋孤儿，成为民间艾滋救助力量中最正规、最有效的楷模。
11月29日，杜聪在赶往下一个目的地的火车上，接受了《新民周刊》的专访。

同时，经过多年努力，中国艾滋病防治工作和消除歧视工作取得显著成效。除了官方努力外，中国民间防艾力量也日益受到重视。日前中国政府高层也首次看望防艾民间组织和志愿者，并对他们表示鼓励和支持。
有评论认为，政府高层对民间防艾力量的鼓励和支持，显示出中国官方在艾滋病防治和消除歧视方面的工作进一步走向细化，除在官方政策之外，更加重视社会力量的多方参与，更加注重政策的柔性和人文关怀。
坚持在原居地资助就学
上世纪80年代初，美国发现首例艾滋病，纽约和旧金山恰好是风暴眼：一群同性恋者莫名其妙地死亡。杜聪的一位中学数学老师后来也死于艾滋病。
美国13年，杜聪经历了艾滋病初发至高发、由医学疾患演变成社会病毒之过程，而且是快速蚕食。上世纪90年代中后期，到中国内地做项目的杜聪以中国人口、医疗体系、防艾措施、传统文化等推衍出“将上演一出更加糟糕的恐怖片”。
与美国不同的是，中国血液感染高于性感染。怎样避免中国重蹈美国覆辙？1998年，杜聪与好友成立了智行基金会，做艾滋病的预防宣传和安全套的发放。智行，就是“把智慧付诸行动”的意思。
一次，有人提醒杜聪，他最该去的是河南。
2001年底与“中国民间防艾第一人”高耀洁见面的情景，杜聪至今记忆深刻。亲历种种，原本半信半疑、感觉不可思议的杜聪形容2001年底的严冬之旅是一场“噩梦之旅”、“亲历人间地狱”：床上病人骨瘦如柴、奄奄一息。
杜聪向《新民周刊》回忆道，发烧、溃疡、腹泻、痔疮、疱疹、缺医少药使临终者痛苦呻吟，一个个毫无尊严的生命让杜聪痛苦不堪：“我从未见过一个小村庄里集中着这么多的苦难。白发人送黑发人俯拾即是。”
杜聪探访过几十家断子家庭。其遗害是孤儿乏人抚养，老人无人赡养，家中缺衣少食。可谓一人染病，三代遭殃。然而，艾滋病人不仅被病逼向绝境，还有无处不在的身份歧视———拒绝入学、招工，甚至所种的农产品（000061）都无人问津。
让后代受教育，是半身入土者的最后希望。从此，杜聪将救助的对象瞄准在这些艾滋孤儿身上。上世纪60年代，河南农村便有卖血之风，沿袭卖血换油盐这一改善生活之举。杜聪旨在从教育上改变他们沿袭的错误路径，读书意味希望。
多位从事艾滋救助事业人士认为，在疫区建立特别为艾滋遗孤而设的学校或孤儿院模式效果并不理想。建院办校耗费时日，孩子等不了，而办学需要经验。
杜聪也一直竭力反对此种模式。他认为，孩子在这样封闭的、特殊的环境下成长，形同“监狱”，孩子容易在那里分帮分派，称兄道弟，不能完成社会化的过程，长大后难以融入社会，甚至会产生种种精神心理问题。即使孩子没有产生问题，“孤儿院长大”的标签容易被人歧视，造成难以磨灭的烙印。
“我看到过东北某地就为了当地一个艾滋病感染的孩子建了一所小学。难道等这个孩子长大了，还要为他再建一所‘一人中学’和‘一人大学’吗？”杜聪提醒办校办园者要为孩子的今后思虑。
所以，“智行”的宗旨是：“让艾滋遗孤在普通学校跟正常学生一起受教育。”此举还有一石二鸟之效。艾滋遗孤因付不起学费而退学的情况存于各校。如百名学生规模的学校，其中30人退学，学校便难以运转，必然殃及正常学生，这种隐患已露端倪。所以，资助遗孤等同助学助校。
同时，面对如此庞大急需救助的艾滋孤儿，这个冷静理性的昔日银行家选择了一条与众不同的路，也是他认为最稳妥可行、在短时间内大量铺开的方法：先定下客观和科学的标准，以村为单位，一个村一个村地摸底，量力而行地助学。在原居地资助就学，艾滋孤儿和一般孩子一起受教育，心态更平衡，有社会化锻炼，将来更容易融入社会。
为避免孩子之间为了争取有限的受助名额而斗穷斗惨斗可怜，甚至从小养成乞丐心态，没有尊严，杜聪提前打预防针让他们宽心，“名额不设上限，凡符合救助条件的人都能得到救助。”
“第一阶段，我是一个人去农村一家一户地走访，跟学校、家庭、村领导沟通。但当时拒绝帮助的人很多，因为艾滋病还是挺敏感的，很多人怕暴露身份。那时的工作就只能低调，很零散，就像打游击一样。”杜聪告诉《新民周刊》，由于艾滋病领域的特殊性，民间组织的身份非常尴尬，发展也非常艰难。
好在“非典”之后，国家对艾滋病开始比较重视。“那时是第二阶段，我们可以开始跟一些地方政府的对口单位合作，通过防疫站，也就是现在的疾控中心，或者医院帮我们找到当地的一些感染者，然后我们就开始去统计并帮助他们的下一代，这样的效率就比较高，而且可以帮助到更多的人。”杜聪说，“而如今，很多人知道我们在做这样一个工作，慕名而来，主动申请的也很多。”
俚语有云：“顶得住破，顶不住饿。”除助学外，为保障艾滋病人衣食温饱，智行基金会还“冬送寒衣，夏施粮”。为给吃抗病毒药的艾滋病人补充营养，“智行”还定期免费给艾滋病高发地区的人们发鸡蛋，1个病人5斤左右。
13年前刚创立的时候，智行基金会没有办公室，没有全职员工，没有钱，杜聪带着几个志愿者，在自己家里开会，一部传真机是唯一的固定资产。现在，智行基金会已经走上正轨，有了10个办公室、40多位全职员工，200多名志愿者，累计帮助的孩子超过13000名，现在仍在资助的有8400名左右，其中500多名是艾滋病感染儿童。他们分布在河南、安徽、山东、广东、广西、云南等10个省份。
这个数字还在日益增加。但相对于50多万受艾滋病影响的儿童整体，杜聪说自己只做了极小的工作。
可推广、可延续的事业
2003年，中原地区庞大的艾滋孤儿群体开始进入公众视野，伴随着媒体的聚焦，各种救助组织雨后春笋般涌现。
8年的救助实践表明，不少当年一度火热的救助模式，难以长期维系，有些已悄然出局。
杜聪的教育背景和金融专业训练决定他能自觉运用“智慧”这一法器将“智行设计得理性而专业，否则，有头无尾，不可持续”。
虽然2007年，杜聪曾经又找到一份与银行相关的工作，但智行繁忙的救助工作使他在2009年再次辞职，恢复全职义工的身份。
救孤与做银行家，杜聪自认有相通之处。区别是，助学获取的是人力资本，银行家获取的是利润。如果忽视或放任遗孤，他就是呆账坏账负资产。杜聪以金融人士的缜密，制订出了一个可以持续切实贯彻的实施方案，要将救助因艾滋病而失去依靠的儿童变为一个可推广、可延续的事业。
现在是“智行”模式实施的第十个学年：小学生一年资助200元，初中生一年五六百元，高中生一年千元左右。大学生，无疑是被资助者中的最优秀群体，杜聪视他们为“负资产变良性资产的典型代表”。他期待他们“凤凰浴火新生”。
而对于那些无意继续求学的初中毕业生，杜聪尽力给他们寻找养家糊口的机会。杜聪四处奔波，与不少技校合作，让这些孩子能够在初中毕业后学习一技之长。同时，他还联系了不同的企业，与之达成协议——在不暴露打工者身份的前提下，接纳一批18岁以上的艾滋孤儿前去工作。此外，他还为一批农村的艾滋病感染妇女提供了为企业缝制环保袋的工作。
杜聪的志向是：不仅扭亏为盈，还要良性循环。
“因为有药吃，现在的农村不像从前，艾滋病感染者的死亡率大大降低了。但对于他们来说，不仅要活，而且要活得有尊严，所以智行会尽量给他们提供工作的机会，使他们能够靠自己的劳动维持生计。”杜聪表示。
前不久，在世界艾滋病日到来前夕，中国国务院副总理李克强就艾滋病防控工作进行调研。李克强此行专门看望了从事艾滋病防治的民间组织和志愿者，值得注意的是，这是中国政府高层首次接触防艾民间组织。
高层此举，也凸显出政府对民间防艾力量的肯定与支持。卫生部部长陈竺日前在谈及“十二五”期间如何推进艾滋病防治工作时也表示，要建立和完善社会组织参与防治工作机制。有官方和民间共同努力，中国的防艾工作或将呈现新的局面。
“政府主要从事感染者的药物治疗，并且提供医学专业的支持，而民间组织则更多的是进行社区关怀。此外在预防上，政府和民间也各有所长。”杜聪说，“经过十几年的努力，确实我们也看到了不少变化，如人们对艾滋病的认识提高了，尤其在一些艾滋病高发的地区，宣传教育做得更加深入。”
杜聪认为，民间是以社区为本的组织，比政府更容易接触到边缘人群。这也就是民间组织的优势所在——针对边缘人群的开展，比如高危人群、共用针筒、男男性行为等。
据杜聪介绍，2011年，除了对艾滋孤儿的救助之外，智行还在着力开展对于男同性恋者之间艾滋病的预防教育工作。
“我们希望通过一个特别的、创新的方式，不是说教的方式来开展工作。比方说，我们在全国做同志版的‘非诚勿扰’，首先通过交友的形式来吸引更多的人参加，但我们的目的是宣传艾滋病的教育。如果，我们名目就是‘某某艾滋病座谈会’，可能都没有人会来参加。”杜聪表示，他还鼓励更多男同性恋者能够勇敢地“出柜”，这样对预防艾滋病无疑也能起到很大的帮助，“我知道这样对他们来说也非常矛盾，毕竟经过多年的宣传教育，但对于艾滋病的歧视仍然很严重，尤其他们又是在中国的男同性恋者。”
如今，“智行”的队伍渐渐扩大，一些受过帮助的孩子加入基金会做义工，或者帮助工作，只领取象征性酬劳。杜聪说，“一个人的力气是不够的。好比我开了一家餐馆，味道不错，客人越来越多，我只能多开连锁店，自己做行政总厨，把握政策和大方向。否则只有一个杜聪，每天24小时全部投入也是不够的。”
到目前为止，在智行基金会全职的40多个员工里，就有18名是当初受过智行救助的艾滋孤儿。
“我感到很欣慰，他们从需要别人帮助的小孩转变成能帮助别人的人，而且有回馈社会的心，回来帮助这个群体。”杜聪透露，下一步智行的工作将继续扩大义工团队以及这些艾滋孤儿大学毕业后的校友会，“现在，我们资助过的孩子中，已经有两百多名大学毕业，在各行各业有很好的发展。我们也希望他们能更好地回馈社会，以前可能只是灌输这种意识，现在他们有能力了，就应该告诉他们可以做些什么，把这个爱心之火传承下去。”
