China to start second-line AIDS treatment trial
"Financial" reporter Liu Jing Jing [12-01 18:30]

Tens of thousands of patients received first-line treatment, survive the first six months after the better, but there are thousands of patients with drug resistance

【 "Financial Network" Zhuangao / reporter Liu Jing】 Beijing on December 1, was held in Beijing the fourth Summit of the Forum on Health Science and Technology, Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention of STD and AIDS Prevention and Control Center (hereinafter referred to as the Chinese CDC and Ai Center) researcher Zhang Fujie Disclosed that in view of the thousands of AIDS patients with drug resistance, in 2008 China was to start second-line anti-virus program trial.
According to Zhang Fujie, China's AIDS anti-retroviral therapy began in 2003, now covering 31 provinces in 1515 the county. As of August 2008, a total of 52,193 people received medical treatment.
He pointed out that the anti-viral treatment of one of the biggest challenges is the "resistance", that is, the virus has been the emergence of drug resistance, China now has about 5000-8000 occurred in patients with drug resistance, to be replaced in other drug treatment programs. As a result, China since 2008 in Henan, Hubei and Anhui provinces in three of the first to start second-line treatment for the pilot program.
The Chinese CDC and Ai Center in 2007, covering eight provinces and 24 counties showed that anti-retroviral therapy 6-12 months, 79% of patients in the detection of the virus down to a level not see; To receive anti-viral treatment 12-24 months, while 71% of patients can not detect the virus. This means that China's anti-viral treatment can achieve good results.
Zhang Fujie pointed out that according to their research, in the first 6 months of treatment, patients with a higher mortality rate. If patients can adhere to survive the first 6 months of treatment, the mortality rate for five consecutive years can be maintained at 4-5 percent between. In other words, the time of death in patients with AIDS, mainly taking place in the first six months. Research in other countries shows, the first three months of medication in patients with a higher risk of death.
HIV can be "destroyed" the body's immune system. While antiviral drugs can not remove the body of the AIDS virus, but it can be to some extent "to suppress" the virus and prolong life in patients to improve the quality of life of patients.
Of course, antiretroviral treatment is also a lot of limitations. Zhang Fujie said that about two percent of Chinese patients dropped out of treatment, which is part of the patients died during the medication, some patients are unable to tolerate the side effects of drugs and drug requirements.

China's AIDS epidemic there are four main factors, the highest rate of infection in Xinjiang

Xinhua Beijing on December 1 electric (Shennan) on December 1, the China Biotechnology Development Center, Chinese Medical Association and other relevant units for the fourth organized by the Health Technology Summit at the China Biotechnology Academic Center. The forum integration, "World AIDS Day," "AIDS research in science and technology progress and prospects" as its theme, the report covers AIDS prevention, diagnosis, treatment and vaccine research and development, and so on. Chinese Center for Disease Prevention, said Professor Wang Ning, China's AIDS infection rate is highest in Xinjiang, in China's AIDS epidemic there are four main factors.

Ning said that up to now, China's cities to the state for administrative units, 98% of the city have to report AIDS cases; to counties, 88 percent of the county have AIDS report. However, different regions are very large differences. Number of people infected with HIV out of the top five are Yunnan, Guangxi, Henan, Xinjiang, Guangdong. Among them, the infection rate close to the thousandth of Xinjiang, the national infection rate is highest in the region.

Ning believe that the AIDS epidemic in China's four major factors:

The first is drug abuse. Intravenous drug use began to spread of AIDS in China is a major factor, of which, new drugs have done great harm, such as methadone. New drug is not addictive, but after taking lead out of control, through the potential risk of sexually transmitted AIDS.

The second is the frequent movement of the population, including short-, medium-and long-term population movement, are the hidden dangers of AIDS.

The third is unsafe sex. Including sex workers, male homosexuals, as well as multi-partner groups in the crowd, they were relatively high risk of AIDS.

The fourth factor is the general lack of knowledge of AIDS. This reflects the lack of level two, the first level is a lack of knowledge of AIDS, the second level, as a result of AIDS caused by a lack of knowledge of AIDS and their families of discrimination, this will trigger some anti-social behavior, More to stimulate the spread of AIDS.
