　　本来受到社会歧视的同性恋者，从私下交往敢于走向社会，公开露面。这说明了，社会公众已经对这种性取向的某种包容，他们不再被列入“异类”。但是，从艾滋病主要传播渠道为男同角度，笔者赞成这样的观点，关爱、包容或者说成尊重他们的性取向，都不代表提倡同性恋。
　　大理男同酒吧，定位于对同性恋者艾滋病预防的教育。但是，命名策划者过于偏颇、狭隘，因为艾滋病传播、受害者不仅仅是男同，社会公众都需要普及防艾抗艾知识。定时于12月1日世界艾滋病日开业，具有象征意义。
　　大理男同酒吧未能如期开业，当时说成是“关闭”“流产”，与其说是社会过热关注，不如说是策划、志愿、经营者仍然心有余悸。因此，大理男同酒吧开业，是一块对社会容忍度的“试金石”。此次延期低调开业，说明他们余悸未消。
　　但是，有志愿者表示，除了男同性恋者，一般游客也可以进入酒吧，这家酒吧的消费非常实惠。这样的包容性和它的经营定位调整，更有利于消除社会的抵触情绪，也有利于拓宽防艾抗艾知识宣传的广泛性。
