从词法看，a是单数，位于动词应该用单数，排除A.D，眼镜本身事一对或一副，名词本身应该用复数glasses 。  a pair of 是一副、一对、一双等的意思，如果是两副、两对、两双等应该为two pairs of , 这里pair本身要由复数变化，要加s。如a pair of shoes, ten pairs of shoes.另外，pair of 后一般接的名词都是复数形式的名词。按英语语法的就进原则，后一个空填are，因为books是复数，no只是一个否定的修饰词而已。 

2.Nobody but Tom and Mary __in the laboratory. 

A. are                   B. have been     C. were            D. is

答案：D。

这里主语是nobody，谓语动词应该用单数形式。此题不能参照就近原则，介词but后的部分与主语不是并列关系，but Tom and Mary 相当于一个插入语，不是主语部分。英语语法规定：如果主语是单数，尽管后面跟有：with , together with , as well as , no less than, rather than , like , but , besides , except , as much as, including , along with ...等引起的短语，不能看作是并列主语，该主语不受这些词组引导的插入语的影响，谓语动词仍然用单数。

又如：The chairman of the board with many directors  was at the meeting last night.  昨天晚上董事长和很多总监在一起开会。

3.He dropped the __ and broke it.

A. cup of coffee   B. coffee's cup    C. cup for coffee   D. coffee cup

答案：D。
注意coffee是无生命的名词，因此不能用coffee's cup！
coffee cup这里的coffee是名词做定语，在英语中也有很多类似的，比如university students,man worker,women doctors等等。切记！！！
