2010:一個艾滋疫苗時代的終結

艾滋疫苗的問題似乎從來都是負面消息,用屢戰屢敗,越挫越勇這些字眼來形容艾滋病疫苗的研發艱辛歷程實在不為過。最新出版的一期《Nature》封面文章就目前艾滋病疫苗的研究進行了評論分析,Accelerating HIV vaccine development。
文章由著名艾滋病疫苗專家Wayne C. Koff撰寫,Wayne C. Kof博士是IAVI(國際艾滋病疫苗倡議組織)高級研究員和首席科學家。從事艾滋病疫苗研究多年,曾2次獲得美國衛生部頒發的服務勳章。曾參與在泰國取得部分成功的艾滋疫苗研究項目。
IAVI - International AIDS Vaccine Initiative 國際艾滋病疫苗倡議組織,1996年成立,該組織2000年投入1000多萬美元, 把準備進行試驗的候選艾滋病疫苗的數目增加兩倍. 這個組織將在3年內提供至少300萬美元, 以完成馬里蘭大學人類病毒學研究所的疫苗研製工作.
