世界上最长的白天播出的电视连续剧“指路明灯”——15762集  

    2009年9月18日，世界上最长的电视连续剧“指路明灯”（Guiding Light）最后一集播出。这部由美国CBS哥伦比亚广播公司播出的电视连续剧，从1952年6月30日起，直到2009年9月18日为止，共播出15762集。起先每一集15分钟，1968年后为30分钟，1980年后为60分钟，历时57年余，半个多世纪。

    在以电视剧形式播放之前，该剧从1937年1月25日起先在电台上广播剧形式播出，一直到1956年6月29日为止。把电视剧之前电台广播的前身广播剧时间计入，这部连续剧则播放了72年。这相当于现代中国人城乡平均寿命了（73岁，男女平均，女性74，男性72）。也就是一个中国城市男人，在1937年初出生，可能到他去世，美国的那连续剧还没有到最后一集。

    这部广播／电视剧是由宝洁公司（P&G）出资制作的，还有高露洁（Colgate）等公司也出资制作类似的连续剧，主要观众是白天在家百般无聊的主妇，向她们推销肥皂肥皂粉以及相关洗涤用品非常有效，这就是在美国电视连续剧又称为“肥皂剧”的由来。
