智行基金会成立于1998年， “智行”的含义是把智慧付诸行动，帮助不幸的人。
智行的使命是通过教育、关怀、预防及反歧视等项目，缔造一个和谐、平等、健康的社会。智行基金会的主要工作是以教育为重点，全方位照顾受艾滋病影响的儿童（简称艾滋遗孤）包括提供学费、生活费、心理辅导、职业技能培训、实施感染儿童特殊关爱项目和组织社区自助项目、辅助当地教育的相关项目等。除此之外，智行基金会还对弱势群体进行艾滋病的预防教育。自2002年起，智行为华中地区的艾滋遗孤提供援助，让他们可以继续上学。截至目前，智行累计资助超过12000名艾滋遗孤，当中包括小学生、初中生、技校生、高中生、大学生和研究生。智行基金会的艾滋病预防教育项目主要以外展、热线及同伴教育等形式开展，并在北京、上海、广州、西安、深圳都有志愿者团队。到目前为止，智行艾滋病预防教育项目累计干预人次超过10万次。
经过多年的努力，智行的工作得到了广泛的认可和赞誉。智行在中国及外国得到了不少个人及多家机构的支持，同时也获得壹基金、联合国教科文组织、全球基金、克林顿基金会和比尔与梅琳达·盖茨基金会的支持，在中国内地完成了多项救助艾滋遗孤和艾滋病预防的项目。目前，智行基金会已经在国内的北京、上海、广州、河南、安徽和云南等地开设了办公室。
