专家指出，美国艾滋病毒感染者中40%为男男性行为传播所导致的，近年来由于采取了较好的干预措施，已得到有效控制。中国目前刚刚出现加速上升的趋势，是防控的最好时机，如果能及时采取有效干预措施，可以遏制这一人群的过快增长势头，对整体防艾战略意义重大。
目前相关部门正积极与同性恋民间防艾组织合作，吸收男性同性恋社群组织的骨干作为志愿者，开展使用安全套、固定性伴等行为干预和“同伴教育”。下一步，计划将高危人群的防艾干预、检测及服务，下沉到街乡和社区。
