生死考验：艾滋病突然降临幸福家庭
今年37岁的李兰兰是河南省上蔡县城南关人，中学毕业后，她在县城开了一家花店。18岁生日那天，她经朋友介绍认识了大她一岁的陈海洋。小伙子是刘庄人，高中毕业后跟着舅舅在县城某建筑公司打工。他对李兰兰一见钟情，一有空就跑到她那里献殷勤，但李兰兰不为所动，直到发生了这样一件小事。

这时，李兰兰才听明白了，她顿时眼前一黑，当即晕倒在地。醒来后，她的脑子里只有一个念头：到丈夫的工地去，去见丈夫！

陈海洋对这些悲剧也是戚然在心，但他不想让类似的悲剧也发生在他心爱的妻子身上。他仔细地分析妻子感染艾滋病的途径。医生告诉他艾滋病只有三种传播途径：母婴传播、血液感染和性行为。

陈海洋以前从来没有下过厨，对做饭炒菜一无所知，他就从熬稀饭学起，逐步把自己变成“家庭煮男”。妻子爱吃蒸卤面，他就学着蒸，蒸得不成功就自己吃，蒸出了好味道，就端到妻子面前；妻子喜欢花，他每隔几天就买一把鲜花插在床头……

那天，李兰兰想了很多，一边想一边流泪，感染上艾滋病毒是不幸的，但遇上如此忠厚的丈夫又是万幸的。就算是为了丈夫，自己也要振作起来……
笑傲命运：艾滋病魔夺不走我们的幸福
为了战胜艾滋病，陈海洋带着妻子，先后远赴北京、武汉和上海等地治疗。其实，上蔡当地对艾滋病人的治疗有优惠政策，很多药物都是免费供应的。但是，陈海洋总觉得外面大城市的医疗技术要先进一些，妻子求生的希望更大。
在寻求治疗的同时，夫妻俩逐渐了解了许多艾滋病的常识，知道了虽然艾滋病很可怕，但只要积极治疗，保持良好的生活习惯，生命还是能延长很久的，甚至可能存活几十年。这给李兰兰夫妻俩带来了很大的安慰，也给他们带来了生活的信心！
但是，他们的生活还是有一道阴影：为了防止感染陈海洋，两人一直极力避免亲热，没有接吻，没有性生活，甚至连拥抱也很少，这对于正处于壮年的恩爱夫妻来说，是一件多么无奈而又多么残忍的事啊！

然而，艾滋病毕竟是凶恶的！虽然李兰兰和丈夫满怀信心，但是她的病情却在不断恶化，人迅速消瘦下来，体重最轻的时候，不足35公斤。直到2002年夏天，她的病情才稳定下来。此时，陈海洋十几年的汗水换来的几十万元积蓄，都已经化为乌有……
为了挣钱给妻子继续治疗，陈海洋不得不重新出去承包工程。令他痛苦的是，因为他是艾滋病人的丈夫，他遭遇了很多不公平的待遇。
虽然陈海洋刻意隐瞒妻子患艾滋病的事实，但还是被许多人知道了内情，这给他的生意带来很大的被动。结果，很多老板都不愿意跟他打交道了，自然也就不愿意把工程承包给他了。有一次，他好不容易争取到一个小工程，当他兴致勃勃地去找负责人签合同时，走到半路就接到对方的电话，说工程已经给别人了，非常抱歉，以后有机会再跟他合作。后来，他才知道是他的竞争对手跟该负责人说，陈海洋老婆有艾滋病，他说不定也有，你跟他打交道很危险，于是那位负责人立马就变卦了。
陈海洋禁不住潸然泪下，他不是伤心被人抢了生意挣不到钱，而是担心妻子一旦病情恶化，他手中如果没钱，就只能眼睁睁地看着她死……
无奈的陈海洋只好厚着脸皮托舅舅出面帮忙揽工程。可是揽到了工程后，他又面临着找不到工人的尴尬。有些胆小的工人知道情况后，不敢再跟着他干了；而他昔日的一些朋友，也对他敬而远之。渐渐地，陈海洋在日常交往中，养成了这样一些习惯：不主动约人见面，不与人握手，不给人敬烟，尽量不跟别人一起吃饭，不与人碰杯……
直到两年后，在有关部门的努力下，艾滋病的防护知识得到普及，人们对这种病有了比较科学的认识之后，陈海洋的处境才有所好转，生意稍微顺了一些。
2004年8月17日，陈海洋在接受笔者采访时，充满信心地说：“这两年来，我爱人的病情一直很稳定。我目前最大的任务就是挣钱，多为她准备些医疗费。现在的科技这么发达，相信不久就能找到治愈艾滋病的办法，我和爱人一定能够挺到那一天！”
同时，他以一个艾滋病人丈夫的身份，告诫天下的夫妻：一个人如果感染了艾滋病，那种从肉体到精神的双重煎熬，确实是非人的折磨！不过，艾滋病虽然凶险，但也并不是那么容易传染，只要防护得当，就能避免被感染。所以，你的爱人如果不幸感染了艾滋病，你千万不要惊慌，更不能逃离。那样，她(他)的命运将会很悲惨。只有夫妻同心努力，才有战胜艾滋病的希望……
