I have the habit of walking, if I have enough time and the way is nor very far. But walking in America is a very strange thing for Americans.
In order to get a deep impression of the way from UCSD to where I live, Newchen and I wanted to have a try the day before yesterday. Though it is only 15-20 minutes drive, we walked for about 2 hours on the road.
We dare not to find a short cut, but only to follow the way bus 41 goes. Beside the road, there are buildings, grass, valleys and some other sceneries, among then the most outstanding building is CITI Bank and Northern Trust, they both located near UTC.
The most dangerous part of the road appeared when we were walking along the freeway. Here I should talk sth. about the freeway in America. Maybe someone hold that freeway has the same meaning with highway, it’s wrong. Free here do means free, for drivers needn’t to pay. Humorous Americans say in USA, everything is free, even the way. And not all the American highway is named freeway, most of then are called highway.
The point is on the freeway, there is no road for walkers, so we have to walk very carefully, some times on the grass next to the deep valley, sometimes had no where but just go ahead.
We smoked twice on the long road, maybe it could be called road, but it has been absolutely stepped for there are a long distance where grass is whither, I’m sure it the footmarks of the road builders that made the so called road and seldom by travelers or walkers like us.
Strong sunshine on the sky, bus 41 passed several times, but we didn’t want to board, we wanted to finish the whole way.
About two hours later, we found Deli Mango, I know the store is grand opening and offer free sample, so we just went there and had a sampled some ice-cream there. The shop assistant asked if I am a businessman, I told her that we are just a Chinese scholars.
Home arrived, it is a nice day. Newchen got on the bed and slept until 8pm.
